2009-2010 RCS Officers Installed
Today was the start of the 2009-10 Fiscal Year at Toastmasters. This is always an exciting time for the club, but especially so in this transition as our club is now a part of Division 55.

New Area 55 Governor (and RCS member) Charlie Gordon performed the installation of the officers. A big "Thank You" to the past board over an outstanding year and job well done.

Former River City Speaker Member Speaks Professionally
Kevin Bracy, professional speaker and creator of his own motivational speaking company, Lifechangers International, got his start at River City Speakers. Kevin started where we all start with his ice breaker speech. While working through his Competent Communicator manual he represented River City Speakers in the Toastmasters International Speech contest. Kevin won not only our club, but the area, division and the District 39 International Speech contests. Kevin is committed to providing a forum for motivational speakers. If you would like to hear Kevin speak, he will be hosting his show, The MonSTARS of Motivation at the Benvenuti Center for Performing Arts in Sacramento on Friday, September 19th at 6:30 PM. The theme is, “Dreaming it is Not Enough…Brace Yourself to do it!” This show is specifically designed to create up thoughts during down times. Jim & Joanna Durkin Visit PECL Toastmasters in Taiwan
Jim Durkin won Best Speaker while visiting PECL Toastmasters in Taipei, Taiwan. PECL Toastmasters is an English speaking Toastmaster club whose members’ native language is Mandarin Chinese. “It’s always great to visit different clubs but it was doubly exciting to attend a Toastmaster club in Taiwan.” Jim went on to say, “The group was wonderful and the meeting followed the same agenda and an American Toastmaster club.”

Jim and Joanna Durkin visited PECL Toastmaster Club in Taipei, Taiwan while visiting Taipei on business.

The Board of River City Speakers formally invited all PECL Toastmaster members to visit and participate in our club.

We are excited to brush-up our website with a new domain, RiverCitySpeakers.com, and a whole new look as well. We hope that the new site will help new members find our club, increase our visibility in the community, and be easier to use (and more timely) to our members. Over the next few weeks we will be soliciting feedback...and if you have something you'd like to contribute--words or photos or files, please let us know!

River City Speakers Awarded Presidential Distinguished Club for 6th year in a row!
A big thank you to all our members for their individual contributions, and especially the officers serving during the 2 terms of 2007-2008 fiscal year, is due! River City Speakers has been able to achieve this award for so many years because of hard work and focus on all ten objectives of the Toastmasters program for clubs.

RCS TV Program Taping
RCS will be taping 2 programs for Tic Toc (Toastmasters in the Community, Toastmasters on Cable) on April 1st (no fooling). These programs will be aired on cable television in several months, on Access Sacramento (channels 17 & 18). Studio audience members are always welcome. The taping begins at 6:30 PM, please arrive early.
